If we didn’t make it clear enough before, let us spell it out for you now: we love Code Orange Kids.
The Pittsburgh four-piece have released, without question, one of the best hardcore albums of the decade and we are confident that 2013 will Code Orange Kids’ year, for sure.
With this said, Alter The Press recently sat down with the guys to discuss their latest album “Love is Love // Return to Dust”, working with Kurt Ballou, gender politics in hardcore and much more.
This week’s slice of “Albums That Changed My Life” goodness comes from Code Orange Kids drummer Jami Morgan!
The band are currently on tour in support of their stunning new album “Love Is Love // Return To Dust”, which is out now through Deathwish Inc. All upcoming dates can be found here and our 5/5 review of Code Orange Kids’ new album can be read here.
Based on previous EP’s, speculations over whether Code Orange Kids could stylistically sustain the same amount of energy and interest for an entire full-length could have been justifiable, but their debut LP reaches defiantly beyond any level of expectation. “Love is Love // Return to Dust” impressively moulds Code Orange Kids’ intense dirge and malefic beats into a musical tempest that constantly re-invents itself without losing coherence.
To those who have already streamed the album for free - before you pressed play, were you prepared for the hell that Code Orange Kids were about to unleash? Probably not. Four stick clicks introduce ‘Flowermouth (The Leech)’, and from there on, chaos takes the reigns of a record that would be an appropriate soundtrack to both the birth and death of the world.
It’s no secret that we LOVE Adventures. The Pittsburgh, PA five-piece released earlier this year possibly one of the best EPs of 2012, fusing their unique blend of indie/rock together with singer/guitarist Reba Meyers’ distinctive vocals.
The Pittsburgh, PA five-piece Adventures (featuring 3/4 of Code Orange Kids) are currently on tour (with Pity Sex on select dates) in support of their new self-titled EP and ATP! were recently in attendance at the Ann Arbor, MI stop of the tour to snap some great photos.
